I had a conversation with a YTB Director this weekend and he was insistent that YTB was travel focused. He chided me about the post about Shop YTB and them proceeded to tell me about all the juices and slimming clothes that were sold out as a result of Shop YTB.

No More Sweetheart Deals

It is interesting that only now that Coach Tomer has been ousted that Travel Pro admits that under the Tomer’s guidance, the Board was stacked with cronyism and neoptism. All in all, it’s a great move for YTB, especially with the way this all this developed.

Big Discussions In Wood River

I am the first to admit I have no idea of the full ramifications of this, but there are rumblings that YTB may indeed be moving to take itself private once again with an open share buyback program.

Mike The Travel Juice Guy

Mike Reams, who goes by the name ” Mike, The Travel Guy ” has traded in his passport for a six pack of Xango Juice! Mike claims to have 27 years in the travel industry (doubtful) and 30 in network marketing (likely) and was reported to be one of the core group of recruiters in the west. Mike was a Director in YTB until last Friday when he resigned his Director position so he could concentrate on his new position in Xango . Maybe he felt a little backed up from his years in YTB and decided to see if Xango might give him a discount on a good laxative

September 3rd, 2009

Great post at:

http://notravelmlms.blogspot.com/2009/09/ytb-to-penalize-reps-with-loose-lips.html

Loose lips sink ships–or so they say. Well, in YTB, loose lips make Coach another $10,000 or more.

Who’s Running The Show

June 5th, 2009

I was copied on an email* between a Rep and the YTB Compliance Department. The Rep was trying to ascertain if he was able to have a website that directed to his YTB sites.

June 3, 2009 10:37am
Okay for me to do one like it?

June 3, 2009 8:39am (guessing time difference)
This is a YTB Competitor and it is not okay to use this site.
Thank you,
Eran L. Distler,
Compliance Specialist

June 3, 2009 11:37am
But Eran – This is a YTB site. Is it no longer valid or something?

June 3, 2009 9:39am
This is not a YTB site that I am aware of. I will check with the Director of Marketing, James Tackett, to see if we have approved this site.
Thank you,
Eran L. Distler,
Compliance Specialist

This is not a YTB site and the Director of Marketing has never seen it before. This is a competitor’s site.
Thank you,
Eran L. Distler,
Compliance Specialist

Please visit the site in question and tell me what competitor this site belongs to? If they are a competitor, they seem to be using YTB’s SOT numbers. And what is frightening, is that Scott Tomer just gave the YTB Home Office Team the MVP Award for being “the best and the brightest in our company”. My guess is that they had a sale on 25 watt bulbs in Aisle 19!

But they really ought to let these people know that they are no longer involved with YTB–apparently they don’t.

Hello XXXX XXXX,

I want to thank you for taking the time to receive more information about a company that is revolutionizing the travel industry. With a lot of “opportunities” out there, I want you to know I appreciate your time and I know you won’t be disappointed!

Do you want more out of life? More time with your friends and family? More time for you? More money? Do you enjoy taking vacations?

Why not join an online travel agency with a home-based business plan that is publicly traded, partnered with Travelocity and ranked #11 in leisure travel in the world?

Think about these questions for a moment.

Do you book your travel and vacations online like most people? Would it make sense to book your travel and vacations online, pay a comparable price or less and get paid 60% of the commissions when you did? What if everyone that you told booked their vacation and travel online, paid a comparable price or less and you still received 60% of the commissions, would that make sense? This is just the tip of the iceberg!

Knowing what you know today, if you could go back in time when Bill Gates started Microsoft and he asked you if you would join him, would you? Of course!

Would you want to see more information about a company that is growing faster then Microsoft was when they started?

Your Travel Biz (YTB) can change your future!

If you are looking for just an extra $500.00 per month or a new career change, YTB and our automated marketing system can help you make it happen! You can have your own state of the art online travel agency!

Please review my website to learn all of the exciting details: Travel with us Vern and Vicky
Be sure to view our Video Presentations while you’re there.

Bruce Shuell, opportunities in life don’t go away, they just go to someone else that sees them and acts upon them. If you are willing to plug into our easy to use system and work hard, then this is the chance to be a part of the largest industry in the world, TRAVEL!!!

Thank you again for your time and interest. I look forward to speaking with you soon!

*Yes, I have the emails and yes the Rep with YTB reads this blog and yes he can confirm them.

Story Time With A Former RTA

May 14th, 2009

Once upon a time…..

Angelo LoPresti is a former RTA based in Florida. When he first heard about YTB, he signed up for his love of travel and the opportunity to make a few bucks selling it. Secondly was to save a little money on his own travel. There was never an interest in recruiting the downline. After all, he signed up with YTB because they were a “travel company”.

I do not mind my name in the media. You can use it. My reasons for leaving YTB are probably the same as the other thousands have been. I am tired of MLM running the business.

I got into YTB because I wanted to sell travel, part time. I love travel and in my private life have helped many friends plan trips. I am an avid Disney Fan, having been up to Orlando hundreds of times. So with all of this knowledge I assumed I could help people plan trips and travel and get paid for it. So it was natural for me to get into travel and YTB was the first company I looked at.

And I am doing this part time, I know for me to replace my day job (Art Director for a local magazine here in West Palm Beach) I would have to be a top producer. Will this ever happen? I do not know, maybe in the future.

Yes I drank the Kool-aid and got hooked. What is funny/sad about this is a couple of weeks after we signed up and began this business, my wife thought it was a scam and wanted nothing to do with it. But I persisted for two more years.

What really did it for me, what was the straw that broke the camels back was loosing NCL. I should have left after YTB lost RCL, but didn’t and I do not know why. And lets not talk about not being able to use www.bookccl.com. I thought YTB was Carnivals golden child, oh how times change. I just didn’t want to quit. I wanted to make it work. After you invest so much time and money into something you do not just want to walk away, you want it to work. But there comes a time when enough is enough.

I feel for the people who just want to sell travel at home and are in YTB. Because YTB is not a travel company, it is a MLM. And YTB does not give out the best commission split, I am getting 10% more now with my new company, and with NO monthly fees.

Plus we all see the writing on the wall. YTB will settle with the California AG, and have to pay a hefty fine. And this will open the doors for other states to come after them to levy a fine on YTB also. With all of these fines, the stock worth close to nothing, and travel sales going down it is only a matter of time before YTB either has to make a significant change or they close their doors.

I am with outsideagents.com now and they are a much more professional company. They are all about travel. No fee’s, no BS, no recruitment, no bonuses, just simply selling travel. And that’s it basically. I do not, nor have I ever wanted to recruit anyone into this business. I want to make a few bucks sending people to Disney World and on Cruises. Having them email me at the end of their trip telling me how happy they were.

And before you go all nuts, I asked him specifically if I could use his name and he agreed!
