Are you looking for more friends and business success on Facebook? Then follow these seven techniques and watch your list and network explode

Are you looking for more friends and business success on Facebook? Then follow these seven techniques and watch your list and network explode.

1. Look for people who are involved in a common business or industry and request to be friends. Once you become their friend, take the time to get to know them and see how you can network and participate in joint ventures with
them.

2. Find old contacts and friends and make friend with them so you can stay in touch and they will see what you are doing and if they are interested they will let you know.

3. Search for the same people you are following on Twitter and become their friends. Usually these people will be open to the idea since you are already acquainted.

4. Include a brief note with each friend request. This will warm up the person and tell them why they should be your friend.

5. Always offer value to others, whether via videos, photos, notes, links, or messages.

6. Be careful what you say in your messages. Do not message people with direct offers to take a look at your business.

7. Change your status regularly, at least once a day and offer messages of value and interest.

Are you trying to use facebook for business? Here are the 10 commandments of business success on facebook.

1. You must always think relationships first and money second. Build relationships and the money will come.

2. You must never ever directly solicit someone via messages, or the mall for a business opportunity or to purchase anything. This is considered spam and is downright annoying.

3. You must be careful what you post on the walls of others. Simply posting links with no content or offering value is a big no no.

4. You must always be thinking about the value you can offer to others, whether via notes, useful links, starting a group, videos or adding to other groups.

5. You must develop a friending policy and think about who you add as a friend and why.

6. You must update your status and make at least a few changes and contributions every day.

7. You must develop a long term plan and goals for working on facebook, and growing your business using facebook. It will not do you any good to be sporadic and random.

8. You must always be thinking about how you can network, and work with others. There are plenty of ways in which you can work with others besides recruiting them or selling them something. You can participate in an interview, work together writing articles, write guest blog posts, do a JV with a project and others.

9. You must truly network and make connections. Do you know someone who would be interested in what another one of your friends has to offer? Pass the referral. It will be much appreciated and it will come back to you.

10. Always be adding new friends. Make sure however, that those you add share something in common with you and that there is a reason for you to add them besides just adding them for the sheer numbers.

Do these things and facebook will help your business grow.

People keep on commenting about their failures with this type of traffic generation (complaining about it) that I have come to notice certain trends in those mistakes. Here are a few: 1.

People keep on commenting about their failures with this type of traffic generation (complaining about it) that I have come to notice certain trends in those mistakes. Here are a few:

1. X submits less than 10 articles and wonders why there are so little views and no sales made.

2. Y submits hundreds of articles without any method to it and wonders why the results literally suck.

3. Z Gets many views from his/her articles but very low CTR.

This goes for the people that have been complaining:

Article Marketing can be extremely powerful, but there is a whole science to it. Submitting 100 articles the right way is much more powerful than just submitting 1,000 articles, no matter how good they are.

I’m not saying my method is the best, it is far from unique, but it works for me and it has worked for many others as well. So here are a few pointers I suggest people follow before going into their article writing and submittal spree.

1. Keyword Research And Implementation

Do the proper long tail keyword phrase research, then implement them by spreading them in your articles. Most importantly in the title, first paragraph, last paragraph, anchor text and once or twice in the body. That way you will rank in the first page of the search engines for that specific keyword.

By proper I mean with the right variables. Personally, I aim for at least 100 daily search results and less than 10,000 Google competition. It sounds hard, but you would be surprised how much of a joke it actually is.

2. Original, Unique, Quality Content

Outsourcing or re-writing can be very tempting, but I would think twice before doing so. You can’t imagine how powerful writing your own articles can be. It’s a great way to brand yourself and if people like your articles they expect the same tone of your next submissions. Not to mention you improve your writing skills tremendously without even noticing as you write away.

No matter who writes your articles, in my opinion, there is no one better than yourself for the job.

3. Leading To The Resource Box And The Anchor Text

Even though writing good articles is extremely imporant, don’t forget that one of the main objectives is for the reader to click through.

So at the end of the article, if you haven’t already been doing so, start leading the reader to the resource box and subtlely pre-selling the product or website you are promoting.

FORGET about the boring “XYZ is an expert in….. you can visit his blog (if you want) here: [insert link>” sort of resource box unless you want very low CTR. Be creative, appeal to the reader’s emotions, be original and just make sure you call to action.

Also, make sure the anchor text of your link is for one of the keywords you used to optimize the site you are linking to. That will give a backlink extra punch to your articles.

4. Keep Them Short And Simple

Everyone knows that people come to the internet for a quick solution to their problems. If they start reading your college thesis they will leave the article half way through (if not before). Make your article 250-600 words, you can write great articles of that length, and if you can’t make them so short, break them down to 3 separate articles.

Don’t forget it applies to the language and terminology as well. In most niches people don’t really care about the technical jargon, some won’t even understand it. Just keep it flowing and write it as if you were actually talking to someone.

5. The Numbers Game

AFTER you have done the things I mentioned above, THEN it becomes a numbers game, the more you submit the better.

So do everyone a favour and get 100+ articles live before complaining (using these guidelines).

I’ve a friend who submitted less than 300 articles last month working 4 hours per day only. The results of those articles to the date I am writing this are: 37,535 Views – 11,058 URL Clicks – 429 Articles Re-Published. And yes, those results are for articles submitted less than 45 days ago. Add a really mediocre conversion of 1% to those URL clicks for let’s say a $20/sale average and you got yourself $2,211.60.

Just imagine the potential money that can be made from such an article marketing campaign alone.

Article marketing is far from dead. Just try it (per above) and see for yourself.

The basic concept of traffic generation is to try some different tactics and see what works, then focus on that tactic.

Here’s some step by step guidance to set up a consistent strategy for yourself to accomplish this ……..

Step 1 –

Buy a relevant domain name and any varients of the extension that make sense.

Create a blog using Blogger and Wordpress (hosted on their site)

Create a Squidoo Lense

Create a Hub at Hubpages.com

This will give you some virtual real estate to test your traffic generation strategies on. The idea is that you can actually get each of these separate entities to appear in the SEs for your keywords. This applies to the different domain extensions as well as the blogs etc. So in theory you could own the top 10 results for your keywords.

If you just want one end site, then you can redirect the traffic and links from these to one place. But for now you want separate places to promote in order to get a good feel for which of your strategies work best.

Step – 2

Conduct the link building and traffic generation strategies you’re comfortable with and that you think you could keep up consist end efforts with. This is different to just picking what’s available because in order to get long term results – you need to have a consistent and ongoing process to keep working on.

Some options you might want to start with are:

* Using link directories -

There are hundreds of directories where you can post a link to your website/blog/lense etc. Just Google to find them.

* Blog commenting -

Same again, there are lots and you can find them just by searching with Google or using tools designed for this.

* Social bookmarking -

And again – there are lots and you can find them with a quick Google or by going to somewhere like Onlywire.com

* Video marketing -

Same again, there are lots of places that you can distribute videos to get traffic. I don’t want to complicate this post by posting links to them all here, but I can provide a list.

* Press Releases -

Same again… (are you spotting a pattern yet )

* Ezine advertising

* Forum signatures

* Article marketing

* Pay Per Click

You get the idea……..

So pick your top choices and for each traffic/link generation tactic point the link (keyword related) to one of your virtual properties (webpage, lense, hub, blog etc…)

You can at this point just use different landing pages on one domain,. But as I already said, there are benefits to having lots of different domains that can show up in the SERPS. So make a decision about who YOU prefer to focus on.

Step 3 -

Track the results of each of these efforts and see which properties and tactics work best for you.

You can also do some cross testing and (for example) try some article marketing to direct traffic/links to ALL of your web properties. You may find that article marketing to blogs works more effectively than to Squidoo Lenses for particular markets/keywords.

Test and tweek until you find something that works for you to a good level. Then focus your efforts with that method as the primary one ….. and then do the other activities in order of how you found them to work for you.

So – there’s a blueprint.

I should also state here that traffic and link building is great – but you should have a bigger picture than this and be paying close attention to what activities actually result in you making money and building a list of prospects and customers. All the traffic in the world is no good if you can’t convert it into revenue.

I know this is still a little generic, but you should fill in any of the gaps for yourself with your own research and test and track results. You’ll understand what works and how if you do more yourself.

Hopefully this will be a useful starting point for anyone who is struggling to get visitors to their websites.
